Brad Smith

Bradley Alexander Smith was born on December 12, 1983, in Youngstown, Ohio. He attended Chaney High School before playing college football at the University of Missouri. Smith was drafted by the New York Jets in the 4th round (103rd overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. Throughout his NFL career, which spanned nine years, Smith played 129 games, showcasing his adaptability in various positions. His career statistics include 972 rushing yards on 134 attempts with 4 touchdowns, and 987 receiving yards on 104 receptions with 5 touchdowns. He was also a significant presence on special teams, notably in kick returns.

Smith’s professional journey began with the New York Jets, where he played for five seasons (2006-2010). During his tenure with the Jets, he contributed as a wide receiver, quarterback in wildcat formations, and a key return specialist. In 2009, he achieved a Pro Football Writers All-Conference selection for Special Teams. A notable year for special teams was 2010 when he recorded 1432 kick return yards and 2 kick return touchdowns, earning him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month once. He was recognized for having one of the longest kick returns in the NFL in 2009 (106 yards).

Following his time with the Jets, Smith joined the Buffalo Bills for three seasons (2011-2012, and briefly in 2013). With the Bills, he continued to demonstrate his versatility, contributing in both offensive and special teams roles, scoring 3 touchdowns (2 receiving, 1 rushing) in 2012. He was waived by the Bills in November 2013 and subsequently signed by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he concluded his playing career in 2014. After retiring from professional football, Smith transitioned into roles focused on brand growth, sports, and entertainment partnerships, and founded the Brad Smith Foundation to promote education.
