About

Born on September 19, 1989, in Loveland, Colorado, Collin Klein began his collegiate football career at Kansas State as a wide receiver before transitioning to quarterback. He redshirted in 2008 and played wide receiver and special teams in 2009. In 2010, he made his first career start at quarterback, rushing for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-14 victory against the Texas Longhorns. Klein became the Wildcats’ starting quarterback in 2011, leading the team to a 7-0 start, the program’s best since 1999. In 2012, Klein led Kansas State to a 10-0 start, an 11-1 record, and the Big 12 Conference Championship, earning him a selection as a Heisman Trophy finalist and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner.

After a brief professional playing career, including a tryout with the Houston Texans in 2013 and a stint with the Montreal Alouettes in 2014, Klein embarked on a coaching career. He started at Kansas State in 2014 as an Assistant Director of Recruiting and Defensive Quality Control, moving to Offensive Graduate Assistant in 2015. His first positional coaching role was Quarterbacks Coach at Northern Iowa in 2016. He returned to Kansas State in 2017 as Quarterbacks Coach, later becoming Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks in 2018. Klein was promoted to Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks at Kansas State in 2022, where he significantly improved the team’s offensive rankings, leading them to a Big 12 title in 2022. Under his guidance, the offense moved from outside the top-75 nationally in 2021 to top-25 in multiple categories by 2023, including scoring offense (10th) and total offense (23rd).

In January 2024, Klein joined the Texas A&M Aggies as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. In his inaugural season, he contributed to the Aggies’ 5-0 start in SEC play, marking their best SEC start in program history since 1998. The team’s rushing offense ranked 2nd in the SEC and 26th nationally. Throughout his coaching career, Klein has mentored notable players, including Skylar Thompson, who was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 2022 NFL Draft, and All-Americans like Deuce Vaughn. Klein holds a B.S. in Business Financial Services and Controllership (Kansas State, 2011) and an M.S. in Academic Advising (Kansas State, 2019).
