Brandon Baker was born on April 28, 1985, in Anaheim, California. His acting career began at the age of twelve, securing his first significant role as Mowgli in Walt Disney’s “The Jungle Book: Mowgli’s Story” in 1998. This direct-to-video film gained domestic and international viewership. In the same year, he appeared alongside Henry Winkler, Randy Quaid, and Jessica Alba in the Disney Channel movie “P.U.N.K.S.” as Johnny Pasiotopolis. He also held a supporting role as Pantsuk in the film “Wind River.” Baker’s television career started with a guest appearance on the UPN series “Sparks” in late 1997. He then guest-starred as Ernesto in “City Guys” on NBC in 1998, which led to his casting as Cray, a series regular, on NBC’s “One World.” This show ran for three seasons and continued in reruns.
Baker’s career continued with notable roles, including the starring role as Johnny in the Disney Channel movie “Johnny Tsunami” in 1999, where he played a Hawaiian teen surfer turned snowboarder. He also had recurring roles as Zach Estrada in four episodes of the Disney Channel series “Even Stevens” (2000-2003) and as Sumir in a mid-season replacement on NBC called “Go Fish” in 2001. Additionally, he appeared as a guest star on the FOX TV series “Boston Public” in 2001 and voiced Duke Anoi in eight episodes of “The Proud Family” between 2003 and 2005. Further TV movie appearances included Mohktar in “Campus Confidential” (2005) and reprising his role as Johnny Kapahala in “Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board” (2007). He also made an appearance in “The Unit” in 2007 as a Teenage Boy.
After a period of acting, Baker decided to transition away from the industry. He starred in the 2014 comedy “The Formula” and the 2015 film “Up on the Wooftop.” In 2015, he retired from acting, stating a loss of passion for the profession. He subsequently moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 2017. In 2019, Baker became a wedding officiant for the wedding planning company Simply Eloped. That same year, he made a brief return to the spotlight as a guest on “Christy’s Kitchen Throwbacks,” a web series hosted by fellow former Disney Channel actor Christy Carlson Romano, discussing his role in “Johnny Tsunami.”
