Bridget Regan is an American actress and producer with many recurring roles to her name, including Rose aka crimelord Sin Rostro in the critically acclaimed Jane the Virgin, Sasha Cooper in The Last Ship, and Kahlan Amnell in Legend of the Seeker. She has also appeared in films such as John Wick and Devil’s Gate and has also appeared on Broadway, originating the role of Cecile Leroux in David Ives’ Is He Dead? Her most recent roles have been on television, including appearances in Batwoman and The Winchesters. She is a favourite among the comic book fan community and has often been suggested as the ideal actress to play Wonder Woman.
Regan hails from the coastal city of Carlsbad, California. She began acting professionally in the mid-2000s, with early roles including parts in Law & Order and even the Sex and the City movie. Her breakthrough role — for which she dyed and straightened her distinctive curly red mane — was as Kahlan Amnell in Legend of the Seeker, a fantasy series on ABC that ran for two seasons, gained a strong cult following, and won a Primetime Emmy. Around this time, she also ventured into theatre production, producing a musical at New York’s La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club.
In 2013, Regan incurred the wrath of Twitter when she played Alex Salter, Vincent’s ex-fiancé, in four episodes of Beauty and the Beast. A resulting love triangle led to social media trolling from sections of the show’s fans who wanted Vincent to be with the other woman! But such are the perils of being a great actor.
