Chantelle Otten is an award-winning Australian psycho-sexologist. In addition to her successful private practice, she is the director of the Australian Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine and the author of the book The Sex Ed You Never Had, which was published in 2021. She is a winner of the Best Presentation in Female Sexual Medicine Award for the European Society of Sexual Medicine and has an ever-growing audience for her sex-ed content on social media, including an incredible 187,000 Instagram followers. She hosts a podcast called Sexy Stories, in which she reads out listeners’ erotic literature.
Although born, raised, and educated in Australia, Otten also trained in the Netherlands (she has Dutch heritage) at the FemPoli Clinic. She returned to Melbourne and began working as a licensed psycho-sexologist, scientist, and sex and relationships expert. In 2016, she set up the Australian Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine, offering therapy for a wide range of sexual issues.
Otten believes that a person’s sexuality and sense of self-esteem are vital for living a good life. Thanks to her European heritage and training, she also feels strongly that conversations around sex and sexual health shouldn’t be taboo. This is where her social media content comes in: she regularly shares reels and pictures featuring everything from sex tips to how to challenge internalised misogyny. Her huge audience has also seen her become an ambassador for the likes of Bumble Australia and Lovehoney.
