Emily L. Depasse

Emily L. Depasse holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Master of Education (MEd) in Human Sexuality from Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies. Earlier in her academic career, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Sexuality Studies with minors in English and psychology from Salisbury University. Her work focuses on sexuality education, gender studies, sexual identity, public health, regulatory compliance, and policy analysis. She is recognized for her ability to engage audiences through digital content, emphasizing sexual health as a form of self-care. Her expertise has been featured in various publications, including Cosmopolitan, Today, and The Seattle Times.

Emily L. Depasse is also a Senior Associate at Redesign Health and an advocate for reproductive rights, sexual health, and social justice. Her professional journey includes establishing a brand identity and curating accessible content. She has made significant contributions to public discourse through publications such as “How to Talk to Your Partner About Getting Tested for HIV and Other STIs” published in Allure, “COVID-19 Shaming, Like Sex Shaming, is Bad for Public Health” in The Inquirer, and “Jimmy Kimmel’s Jokes About Herpes Aren’t Funny” in The Washington Post. Emily also contributed to “The Secret Sexual Revolution at Salisbury University in the 1960s and 1970s” for Salisbury University News.

Her work consistently aims to redefine narratives around sexually transmitted infections, particularly focusing on herpes education and empowerment, actively combating shame and stigma. She established her platform, SexELDucation, in 2015, and has since built a substantial online following for her discussions on sex, dating, and relationships.
