Christine Blasey Ford is a distinguished American professor of psychology at Palo Alto University and a research psychologist at the Stanford University School of Medicine. With a specialization in designing statistical models for research projects, Ford has made significant contributions to the field of psychology. Her academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in experimental psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a master’s in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University and a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Southern California. In 2009, she further enhanced her expertise by earning a master’s degree in epidemiology from Stanford University.
Since 1998, Ford has been a vital part of the Stanford School of Medicine’s psychiatry department, where she has worked as a research psychologist and biostatistician. In 2011, she became a psychology professor in the PGSP-Stanford Consortium for Clinical Psychology, teaching doctoral students about psychometrics, study methodologies, and clinical trials. Her consulting work for pharmaceutical companies and her role as a director of biostatistics at Corcept Therapeutics highlight her influence in both academic and private sectors.
Ford’s research has been widely published, covering topics such as child abuse, depression, and the social impact of hiding one’s sexual orientation. She co-authored the book “How Many Subjects? Statistical Power Analysis in Research” and has collaborated with various organizations, including the FDA, to enhance statistical analysis in research.
In September 2018, Ford gained national attention when she publicly alleged that then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her during their teenage years. Her courageous testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee sparked widespread discussions about sexual assault and the importance of believing survivors. Ford’s bravery has earned her numerous accolades, including being named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2019 and receiving recognition for her contributions to speaking truth to power.
