Christopher Harris Jr. was born on June 18, 1989, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Bixby High School in Bixby, Oklahoma, excelling in football, basketball, and track. He earned All-State honors in both basketball and football during his senior year in 2006, leading the Spartans to a district title. Harris was also an all-metro first-team selection after his junior and senior seasons, demonstrating his early athletic prowess. He contributed 61 total tackles, four interceptions, and seven pass break-ups in 2006, alongside 23 receptions for 839 yards on offense.
Harris continued his football career at the University of Kansas, where he became one of the most successful defensive players in the program’s history. Despite not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, Harris signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2011. His determination quickly led him to a starting role, and he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in his first season. Over his 12-season NFL career, primarily with the Denver Broncos (2011-2019), and later with the Los Angeles Chargers (2020-2021) and New Orleans Saints (2022), Harris distinguished himself as a top cornerback. He amassed 621 total tackles, 6.0 sacks, 97 pass deflections, 22 interceptions, and 7 forced fumbles.
A significant milestone in Harris’s career was winning Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos in 2016. He was a 4x Pro Bowl selection (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018) and a First-Team All-Pro in 2016. His consistent high-level performance earned him a spot on the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. Beyond his on-field achievements, Harris is recognized for his extensive charitable work. In 2013, he established the Chris Harris Jr. Foundation, aimed at supporting ‘underdogs’ through various initiatives, including an annual free football camp, advocacy against domestic violence, and partnerships with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He officially announced his retirement from the NFL in April 2024.
