Cody Gene Schmitz and Khristian Wyatt Stark, known collectively as Cody & Wyatt, launched their joint YouTube channel in 2017. The channel gained significant traction by offering reaction videos to K-pop music, expanding to include reactions to pop artists such as Katy Perry, Pink, Demi Lovato, and Camila Cabello. Their content also features dance covers and pop art creations by Cody Schmitz, including a notable piece where he used an Ariana Grande album as a paintbrush. Cody Schmitz, originally from Concordia, Kansas, later moved to New York City. Khristian Wyatt Stark, who studied sports management at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, partnered with Schmitz to build their online presence. A significant milestone in their career was their 2018 video, “Katy Perry Reacts to Twice,” which garnered 6.4 million views. Beyond their YouTube endeavors, Cody & Wyatt have expanded their media presence by launching a podcast titled ‘Girl Talk,’ where they discuss their admiration for women in pop music, featuring artists like Lady Gaga and Red Velvet, and conduct interviews with guests from the pop music industry.
