Jung Da-Woon, professionally known as Da Woon Jung, was born on December 7, 1993, in Taegu, South Korea. His martial arts journey began with boxing in his youth, and he transitioned to MMA training five years prior to his UFC debut, finding discipline and purpose in the sport. He developed a fighting style emphasizing both striking and grappling, earning him the nickname “Sseda.” Jung trains at the Korean Top Team in Seoul, South Korea, where he has honed his skills, achieving a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His professional career officially began in 2015, competing across various East Asian regional promotions.
Before joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Jung built a solid professional record of 11 wins and 2 losses. A significant early career achievement was winning the HEAT Light Heavyweight Championship, which he secured via TKO against Yuto Nakajima in 2018. This victory showcased his potential and earned him a spot in the preeminent mixed martial arts organization. He made his UFC debut on August 31, 2019, securing a submission victory over Khadis Ibragimov.
