Dame Sharon White embarked on a distinguished career in public service, rising to prominence as Director General, Public Spending from 2012 to 2013, where she oversaw critical financial management within government departments. This was followed by her tenure as Second Permanent Secretary from 2013 to 2015, a role in which she was instrumental in shaping public policy and economic affairs. Throughout these foundational positions, Dame Sharon gained significant recognition for her expertise in fiscal policy and regulatory frameworks, laying the groundwork for her subsequent leadership roles. In 2015, Dame Sharon White transitioned to a pivotal role as Chief Executive of Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator.
Building on her extensive experience, Dame Sharon White is set to continue her influence across economic and financial sectors. In November 2024, she will take on the role of Senior Managing Director and Head of Global Affairs at CDPQ, a prominent Canadian public pension fund manager, based in London, contributing to global investment strategies. Concurrently, she will assume the position of Chair of Frontier Economics in January 2025. Further solidifying her public service contributions, Dame Sharon will be created a life peer in July 2025, enabling her to sit in the House of Lords.
