Joe Ruback has taken the term super fan to a whole other level. Known to most as “License Plate Guy,” Ruback can always be found at every New York Giants game. Unlike most Giants fans, Ruback’s passion for the sport has turned into a lifestyle. The team and the players are not just numbers on a jersey. To Ruback, they are his close friends and almost family. Ever since his debut on the pitch as a sixteen-year-old boy in 2003, Ruback has made numerous relationships and created unique memories with several of the Giants that will last a lifetime.
Over the years, Ruback has become a celebrity in his own right. Although he sees himself as “an average fan,” his constant presence has made him a loveable personality and permanent, expected fixture at each home or away game. He has also featured on several television shows, including the NFL Network and Good Day New York.
Away from the spotlight, Ruback is a philanthropist and has raised money and awareness for several charities, including breast cancer charity Pink Tailgate. With his Giants brothers, Ruback has organised events such as the Lanson Collins headlined softball and dodgeball match for the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. With over twenty years of experience on the sidelines, Ruback has witnessed and been part of every victory, every loss and all four of the SuperBowls that his favourite team have won over the years. Without a doubt, Ruback will be there to see many more yet!
