The legendary Dan Carter is a former professional rugby union player. He most famously turned out for the Crusaders in his native New Zealand, as well as for New Zealand’s national team, the All Blacks, playing 112 test matches for them and winning two Rugby World Cups. He is the highest point scorer in test match rugby, and is considered by many as the greatest ever first five-eighth in the history of the game. His autobiography, Dan Carter: The Autobiography of an All Blacks Legend, was published in 2015. Dan Carter: A Perfect 10, a documentary about his personal life and the challenges he encountered on his road to winning the 2015 Rugby World Cup, was released in 2019. He has also worked as a model.
Born and raised in Southbridge, New Zealand, Carter started playing rugby when he was five-years-old. He proved to be a natural talent at the sport throughout his school years, and eventually started his domestic career when he was signed by Canterbury in 2002. He remained with the side until 2014, helping them win five NPC/Air New Zealand Cup Championships. A year after joining Canterbury he was also signed by the Super Rugby side the Crusaders, and a few months later made his All Blacks debut at the age of 21. He remained with the Crusaders until 2015, having helped them to three Super Rugby championships. He then joined the French side Racing 92 and stayed with them until 2018, after which he signed with the Japanese team Kobelco Steelers. He retired from professional rugby in 2021.
