David Atherton is a presenter, podcaster, and writer in the food industry. Since his victory on Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off in 2019, he has been a guest on a variety of shows, including Steph’s Packed Lunch, Good Morning Britain on ITV, and Blue Peter on the BBC. He formed a collaboration with the North York Moors National Park in 2022 to produce a set of four short travelogues examining the area as the “capital of cake.”
My First Cook Book, the first in a trilogy of kid-friendly cookbooks written by Atherton, was published in 2020. My First Green Cook Book followed in 2021 and My First Baking Book was released in 2022. In 2021, he also published Nice to Eat, a cookbook that included one hundred different fresh and wholesome dishes. Atherton began co-hosting the podcast Sticky Bun Boys in 2022. In the UK, each episode of the podcast receives 8,000 listens, earning it the number two spot in the category of TV Review podcasts.
Atherton’s work revolves heavily around the topic of the connection between proper nutrition and sound health. He holds a master’s degree in public health, a post-graduate qualification in expedition and wilderness medicine, and prior teaching experience on the subject of tropical illnesses at the university level. He has collaborated with companies such as Sainsbury’s, Barbour, America’s Test Kitchen, JORD, McVitie’s, Castello, and Symprove on a variety of social media campaigns and branded marketing initiatives.
