David Fincher is an American film director recognized for his distinctive psychological thrillers and meticulous filmmaking style. After contributing to major productions like ‘Return of the Jedi’ (1983) and ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ (1984) as an assistant cameraman and matte photographer at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), David Fincher established himself as a distinctive voice in filmmaking. Leaving ILM in 1984, he quickly gained industry attention by directing a television commercial for the American Cancer Society. In 1986, Fincher co-founded Propaganda Films, a production company where he honed his craft directing numerous acclaimed music videos and commercials for brands including Levi’s, Nike, Pepsi, and Chanel.
From 2016 to 2019, he took on the roles of showrunner, director, and executive producer for the Netflix series ‘Mindhunter.’ In 2019, Fincher co-created and executive produced the animated anthology series ‘Love, Death & Robots’ for Netflix, which continues to run. Most recently, Fincher directed ‘Mank’ (2020), earning him a third Academy Award nomination for Best Director. In 2023, he directed the acclaimed thriller ‘The Killer.’ Looking ahead, Fincher is confirmed to develop and work on a ‘Squid Game’ adaptation for Netflix, slated for 2025, and is currently directing ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’ (TBA), showcasing his ongoing commitment to groundbreaking storytelling across diverse platforms.
