Dr Alaa Murabit is an inspirational global health expert, currently working as the United Nations High Level Commissioner on Health Employment and Economic Growth.
After qualifying as a medical doctor, Murabit has gone on to do significant work across the world on global health initiatives and other major projects. When she was just 21 years old she founded The Voice of Libyan Women, which works to protect the rights of women in the country. Soon after she released her TED Talk, called What My Religion Really Says About Women, which has been hailed as one of the most influential speeches of its kind. She became widely regarded as a leading figure for feminism around the world, and has gone on to work on numerous projects including Phase Minus 1, the Malala Fund, and Co-Agency. Most recently she has been given the prestigious role of United Nations High Level Commissioner on Health Employment and Economic Growth. She is a world leader in conflict resolution and inclusive security, and is now invited to speak on the subject around the globe. Murabit’s list of achievements continues with her role as a Sustainable Development Goal Advocate, appointed by the United Nations.
