Dylan Mandlsohn, born in Toronto in 1979 or 1980, developed an early interest in comedy, inspired by figures such as Jim Carrey and Rich Little. He pursued drama studies at the University of Windsor. His career in comedy began at age 17, performing in front of his high school, and by 21, he received a nomination from the Canadian Comedy Awards for Funniest New Comedian in Canada. His early televised appearances included “Yuk Yuk’s search for Canada’s Funniest New Comic,” which aired nationally on CTV and the Comedy Network. Mandlsohn initially worked as a substitute teacher before committing full-time to his comedy career.
Mandlsohn’s comedy continued to gain traction with appearances at Montreal’s Just For Laughs and The Boston Comedy Festivals. These opportunities led to performances for The Comcast Network, expanding his reach into television and film. He notably secured a role in the major motion picture “Brand Dead” and has delivered two Gala performances at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Halifax Comedy Festival, both broadcast on CBC. In 2007, he starred in his own “Comedy Now!” special for The Comedy Network and CTV. His acting credits include playing a CIA staffer in “Nikita” (2010), a guard in “12 Monkeys” (2016), and a landlord in Leslie Nielsen’s final film, “Stonerville” (2010). He was also a member of the Los Angeles improv troupe The Groundlings.
Renowned for his master impressionist skills, Mandlsohn can perform over 75 voices and characters. He holds the distinction of being the first Canadian comic to be a back-to-back finalist at both the San Francisco and Seattle Comedy Competitions. His material often originates from personal observations, which he transforms into accessible comedy. Beyond stage and screen, Mandlsohn has performed on cruise lines for Disney, Carnival, and Holland America, and regularly performs for corporate events, including the Investor Group Tour.
