Emmy-winning actor and singer Eric Martsolf has long established himself as one of America’s premier soap actors. He first made his name playing Ethan Winthrop in NBC’s Passions, but it’s as Brady Black in the network’s world-famous soap opera Days of Our Lives that he has cemented his reputation. Martsolf has been playing Black since 2008, appearing in nearly 1800 episodes and winning the 2014 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Support Actor.
Before all of this, however, Martsolf had embarked on a varied and fascinating career. After graduating with a degree in a Political Science, he was a singer on a cruise ship, a radio DJ in his native Pennsylvania, a fashion model, and a director for Children’s Theatre Experience. He got his television break in 2002 when he was cast in Passions, a then-new American soap. He stayed with the show for the whole of its six-year run, appearing in nearly 800 episodes. Almost as soon as it finished, he joined the cast of Days of Our Lives, one of the world’s longest-running TV shows (it has aired five days a week since 1965), becoming an integral part of the show’s continued success.
Despite his success, Martsolf remains unafraid to branch out. He appeared in several episodes of Emmy-winning drama The Bay and provided the voice of B.E.N. in CBS’s Spielberg-produced sci-fi drama Extant. He’s also made guest appearances in shows such as Smallville, Miss Behave, and NCIS. More recently, he’s continued to prove his versatility by playing Michael in family comedy movie To the Beat! and its sequel, To the Beat! 2: Back to School.
