Gabriela Spanic

Gabriela Elena Spanic Utrera, born on December 10, 1973, in Ortiz, Guarico, Venezuela, is a renowned actress, model, and singer. She initially pursued psychology at Andrés Bello Catholic University before transitioning to acting. Her career began in 1992, participating in the Miss Venezuela pageant representing her home state of Guárico. This led to her early television appearances, including a role as Karla in “Rosangelica” (1993) and portraying the villain Linda Prado in “Morena Clara” (1993).

Spanic achieved significant recognition with her first lead role in the telenovela “Como tú, ninguna” (1994), which ran for two years and gained international success. A pivotal moment in her career came in 1998 when she starred in “La usurpadora,” playing the dual roles of twins Paola and Paulina. This telenovela became one of the most popular in the Spanish-speaking world, breaking audience records and being translated into 25 languages across 120 countries. Her acting prowess led to contracts with major television networks, including Televisa, Telemundo, and TV Azteca.

Throughout her career, Spanic has consistently taken on diverse roles, further solidifying her status in Latin American television. She co-hosted the OTI Festival in its final edition in 2000 and received critical acclaim, including the Orquidea Award in 2005 for her acting trajectory and the prestigious FAMAS Award for Best Actress for her performance in “Tierra de Pasiones.” She has also explored singing, releasing albums such as “Gabriela Total” (2004) and “En Carne Viva” (2014).
