Gail O Grady

Gail Ann O’Grady was born on January 23, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Wheaton, Illinois. Her career began with modeling for Montgomery Ward and appearing in several commercials, including a significant Pepsi commercial alongside actor Michael J. Fox in 1989. O’Grady made her film debut in the 1988 romantic comedy “She’s Having a Baby” and subsequently took on guest appearances in various television shows, often portraying villainous characters. These early roles solidified her presence in the entertainment industry.

O’Grady’s career progressed with a pivotal role as Donna Abandando in the ABC police drama “NYPD Blue,” a role she held from 1993 to 1996, with a guest appearance in 1999. Her performance garnered three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (1994-1996) and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 1995. Following her time on “NYPD Blue,” O’Grady transitioned to leading roles in numerous television movies for networks such as Lifetime and Hallmark Channel. She also expanded her filmography with roles in movies like “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” (1999).

From 2002 to 2005, O’Grady starred as Helen Pryor in NBC’s “American Dreams,” a period drama set in the 1960s. Her later career included recurring roles on notable series such as “Boston Legal” (2007), “Desperate Housewives” (2008), and “Revenge” (2014-2015). More recently, she appeared in seven episodes of “Criminal Minds” from 2018 to 2023 and is set to appear in the upcoming series “Duster” in 2025. Her work as a producer includes the 2004 film “Tricks.”
