Gary Oldman is an iconic British actor who has appeared in some very impressive roles over the years. Younger fans will know Oldman for his role as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter franchise, but he is also well-known for his role as Dracula and for his performances in The Dark Knight, Darkest Hour and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Oldman began his acting career in 1982 and quickly rose to fame after his role in Dracula alongside Anthony Hopkins and Winona Ryder. The classic movie was a springboard for the rest of his career, but he didn’t stick to just one niche. Oldman has had plenty of fantasy roles, but he has also dabbled in thrillers, dramas and comedies. Some of his other well-known roles include his appearances in Friends and his starring role in The Fifth Element.
To add to Oldman’s varied career, he has also had success as a voiceover artist in several games. He worked on both The Legend of Spyro games, and he also had a voiceover role in the iconic game, Call of Duty: Black Ops. In addition, he voiced Shen in Kung Fu Panda: 2.
Oldman’s impressive career hasn’t gone unnoticed. He has been nominated for nearly a hundred awards, of which he has won sixty one. His most impressive awards include his Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in Darkest Hour, where he played Winston Churchill. He’s also been nominated for two other Oscars.
