Genesis Rodriguez

Genesis Rodriguez was born in Miami, Florida, on July 29, 1987. Her father is the Venezuelan singer and actor José Luis Rodríguez ‘El Puma’, and her mother is Cuban model Carolina Perez. From an early age, Rodriguez showed an interest in acting, attending summer classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and other acting training programs. Her early career involved roles in Spanish-language series, which laid the foundation for her later work in American television and film. She began with roles such as Libertad Salvatierra Santos in “Prisionera” (2004) and dual lead roles as Rosita Amado and Violeta Hurtado in “Dame Chocolate” (2007) for Telemundo. Her work in Spanish-language productions continued with “Doña Bárbara” (2008–2009).

Rodriguez transitioned into English-language roles, including an appearance as Sarah in the HBO series “Entourage” (2004-2011) and a recurring role on the NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives” (2005-2006). In 2012, she made her feature film debut with a significant role as Angie in “Man on a Ledge.” The same year, she starred as Sonia in the comedy “Casa de Mi Padre” alongside Will Ferrell and appeared in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” as Courtney. Rodriguez continued her film career with roles in action-thriller “The Last Stand” (2013) as FBI Agent Ellen Richards and the comedy “Identity Thief” (2013) as Marisol. Her voice acting career began with the role of Honey Lemon in the Disney animated film “Big Hero 6” (2014), a role she reprised in “Big Hero 6: The Series” (2017–2021). She also appeared in “Tusk” (2014) as Ally Leon and “Run All Night” (2015) as Gabriela Conlon.

She has maintained a consistent presence in television and film. In 2017, she took on the main cast role of Jane Walker in the series “Time After Time” and lent her voice to Amalay in “Elena of Avalor.” More recently, Rodriguez joined the main cast of “The Umbrella Academy” (2022) as Sloane Hargreeves, showcasing her versatility across genres. She has also appeared in “The Fugitive” (2020) as Detective Sloan and the video game “Kingdom Hearts III” (2019) as the voice of Honey Lemon. Her career demonstrates a progression from primarily Spanish-speaking roles to a diverse portfolio encompassing live-action and animated projects in both film and television.
