Andy Day

Andrew Paul Day, born in Luton, Bedfordshire, began his prominent career as a television presenter and actor, primarily gaining recognition for his work on the BBC’s CBeebies channel. He first appeared on CBeebies in July 2007 and, by 2018, became its longest-serving presenter. His early roles established him as a key figure in children’s television, specializing in programming focused on animals and nature. Day’s consistent presence and engaging style quickly made him a beloved personality among young viewers and their families.

Throughout his career, Day has starred in numerous successful CBeebies series, including “Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures,” “Andy’s Safari Adventures,” “Andy’s Aquatic Adventures,” and “Andy’s Global Adventures,” which have all been highly popular. These shows often integrate real-world natural history footage with comedic narrative, allowing children to learn about various creatures and environments in an accessible format. Beyond his individual shows, he has been a consistent participant in the CBeebies Live Arena Tour since 2012 and has taken on colorful roles in annual televised CBeebies pantomimes since 2018, such as playing Truffle in “CBeebies Christmas Show: Hansel & Gretel” (2019) and Bow the Pigeon in “CBeebies Panto 2022: Dick Whittington and His Cat.”

A significant career turning point for Day was the formation of his pop-rock band, Andy and the Odd Socks, in 2017. The band, which debuted at Glastonbury, focuses on creating children’s music and has released three studio albums: “Who Invited This Lot?” (2017), “Who’s In The Odd Socks?” (2020), and “Odd Socks Calling” (2022). This musical venture led to the CBBC TV show “Andy and the Band” (2020-2025), where the band members solved fictional fan issues. As a patron of Anti-Bullying Week, Day utilizes his platform with Andy and the Odd Socks to promote positive messages for primary school children through initiatives like Odd Socks Day, which encourages individuality. His contributions to children’s educational and entertainment content have also extended to publishing, with his first novel, “Dino Dad,” released in 2024, followed by “Dino Dad: Ice Age” (2024) and “Dino Dad: Big School Talent Show” (2025). Day’s dedication to children’s programming earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Presenter in 2009.
