After achieving the distinction of becoming a Green Beret in the United States Army Special Forces in 2009, Grady Powell embarked on a career that would leverage his specialized skills for a national audience. Powell initially joined the Army in 2007, serving multiple tours in the Middle East and Africa, where he supported critical operations including Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom. During his military service, he honed expertise in small arms, mobility, and survival tactics before his departure in January 2012.
His entry into the entertainment industry began shortly after, participating in a television commercial for a Portuguese cell service provider in 2012. That same year, he was contacted by Metal Flowers Media to join Mark Burnett and Dick Wolff’s NBC production, ‘Stars Earn Stripes,’ marking a significant turning point in his career. Powell quickly became a recognized face in the survival and competition genre, demonstrating his real-world expertise on various prominent series. He appeared as a self on Discovery Channel’s ‘Ultimate Survival Alaska’ for 19 episodes, spanning from 2013 to 2015, showcasing his proficiency in extreme environments.
He also continues to expand his reach as the host of the ‘Forging the Path’ podcast, where he shares insights and experiences from his diverse career as a former Green Beret and television personality.
