Hannah Berner is an American stand-up comedian and reality television star who is currently best known for her stint on Bravo’s Summer House, a reality series based around a group of friends who share a holiday home in Montauk, Long Island. Berner joined the show for its third season but sensationally left at the end of the fifth after falling in love with a fellow stand-up comedian and deciding to focus on her comedy career. The move hasn’t harmed her popularity as she can boast close to half a million followers on Instagram. Giggly Squad, the hilarious podcast she co-hosts with Paige Desorbo is also a huge hit. She also has a solo podcast, Berning in Hell, and the between them, the two podcasts have over 8 million downloads. In September 2021, she embarked on her first post-lockdown stand-up tour.
Berner’s break into comedy came organically through making funny Instagram videos and writing viral tweets. In 2019, she joined the cast of the popular show Summer House, becoming an instant hit with fans and the rest of the cast, not least for her anarchic humour. She thoroughly enjoyed her first two seasons of the show, but by the time of her third one, she had met her now-fiance and was beginning to look beyond the realms of reality TV to further her career. That said, she has stated that she remains open to the possibility of returning to the show one day (it’s popularity means it looks unlikely to be cancelled anytime soon).
