Hans Christer Holund is a Norwegian cross country skier who represents both his country and his team Lyn at competitions.
Holund set the tone for his career by becoming Junior World Champion in the 10km classic in 2008, making his World Cup debut just a year later. He won two bronze medals at the Junior World Championships in France in 2009 in the 20km pursuit and the relay events. His first top ten result at a World Cup contest came in 2016, the same year that he and his Lyn teammates won the relay event at the Norwegian national cross country ski championships. Holund competed in the 2017 World Championships and qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, held in South Korea. He won the bronze medal for Norway in the 30km skiathlon event despite competition from younger athletes in the tournament. Holund’s strong performances continued throughout 2019, when he won a gold at the World Championships in the 50km mass start event. He repeated his win with another gold in the 15km pursuit event at the Stage World Cup that season, as well as four other podium finishes.
Most recently, Holund has enjoyed success at the FIS Ski Tour 2020, where he came third overall, as well as a gold in the 4 x 7.5km relay event at the 2020 World Cup competition held in Finland. With an impressive career behind him already, this top class skier shows no signs of slowing down.
