Hideki Matsuyama

Hideki Matsuyama is a Japanese professional golfer who became the first Japanese male major golf champion and has achieved numerous wins on the PGA Tour and Japan Golf Tour. After becoming the first Japanese male major golf champion with his victory at the 2021 Masters Tournament, Hideki Matsuyama has established himself as one of golf’s most accomplished global stars, achieving numerous wins on both the PGA Tour and Japan Golf Tour. His amateur career saw him clinch the Asian Amateur Championship in both 2010 and 2011. These victories earned him berths as an amateur in the Masters Tournament, where he was recognized as the leading amateur and awarded the Silver Cup in 2011.

Additionally in 2016, he won the Japan Open Golf Championship, his second Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters, and the Hero World Challenge. His historic 2021 Masters Tournament victory marked him as the first Japanese player and first Asian-born player to win a men’s major golf championship. This was followed by wins at the Zozo Championship in 2021 and the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2022. With a total of 11 PGA Tour wins, Matsuyama holds the distinction of being the most successful Japanese member of the PGA Tour in history.

In 2024, he continued his impressive run with victories at the Genesis Invitational and the FedEx St. Jude Championship, alongside earning a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Kicking off 2025 with strong momentum, Matsuyama won The Sentry, where he set a new PGA Tour scoring record in relation to par, further solidifying his legacy in professional golf.
