Brooks Koepka was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on May 3, 1990. He began playing golf at the age of 10, initially seeing it as a way to spend time with his family. He played college golf at Florida State University, where he achieved three event wins and was recognized as a three-time All-American. He first participated in the U.S. Open as an amateur in 2012, where he did not make the cut. Koepka turned professional in the summer of 2012, starting his career on the Challenge Tour in Europe. His early success included winning the Challenge de Catalunya in September 2012, which marked his first professional title. In 2013, he secured three more victories on the Challenge Tour: the Montecchia Golf Open, the Fred Olsen Challenge de España, and the Scottish Hydro Challenge. These wins earned him his European Tour card for the remainder of 2013 and the full 2014 season.
Koepka continued to establish himself in professional golf during the 2014 European Tour season. He won the Turkish Airlines Open and consistently performed well, finishing third at the Dubai Desert Classic and Omega European Masters, and ninth at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. His strong performance led to him being named the European Tour’s Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. In the same year, he earned his PGA Tour card for the 2014–15 season, along with an invitation to the Masters, after a fourth-place finish at the U.S. Open. On February 1, 2015, Koepka secured his first PGA Tour win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which elevated him to 19th in the Official World Golf Ranking. He continued to perform well in major championships, earning top-10 finishes at The Open Championship and the PGA Championship in 2015.
His career reached new heights with his major championship victories. He won his first major at the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills, Wisconsin, tying the record for the lowest U.S. Open score at 16 under par. He successfully defended his U.S. Open title in 2018 at Shinnecock Hills, becoming the first player since Curtis Strange in 1989 to win consecutive U.S. Open titles. Later that year, he won his third major at the 2018 PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club, becoming the fifth player, and the first since Tiger Woods in 2000, to win both the U.S. Open and PGA Championship in the same year. He returned to number one in the Official World Golf Ranking after winning the CJ Cup in October 2018. In 2019, Koepka won his fourth major championship at the PGA Championship, successfully defending that title. He joined the LIV Golf Invitational Series in June 2022 and won his fifth major at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, becoming the first LIV Golf player to win a major.
