Fashion model, actress, writer and LGBTQ+ rights activist, Hunter Schafer, is now known for her acting debut as the character Jules in HBO’s hit teen drama, Euphoria. Among many well-known and prestigious fashion houses, she has modelled for Miu Miu, Calvin Klein, Dior, Tommy Hilfiger and Erdem, and Teen Vogue listed Schafer on its ’21 Under 21′ list. In 2020, in honour of the 50th anniversary of the first Gay Pride parade, online magazine Queerty named her among fifty heroes “leading the nation toward equality, acceptance, and dignity for all people”.
Born in North Carolina, Schafer graduated from the University of NC School of Arts. She became politically active soon after when she challenged a State House bill requiring people to use public bathrooms that matched the gender on their birth certificate. She started her modelling career in New York, and turned to acting following a casting-call on Instagram. She made her acting debut in the HBO series, Euphoria, receiving praise for her performance. Aside from her leading role, she also co-wrote an episode with the show’s creator, Sam Levinson.
With a huge presence on social media, Schafer regularly connects with her legions of dedicated followers and fans via Instagram and Twitter, posting pictures of her personal and professional life, as well as of her art work and political activism.
