South Korean taekwondo practitioner In Kyo-don, known as ‘The Bear’, has solidified his reputation as a formidable competitor by achieving multiple international medals, including an Olympic bronze. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Kyo-don overcame a diagnosis of stage 2 lymphoma in 2014, making a complete recovery by 2019, and returning to the highest levels of the sport. His consistent performance began with a Silver Medal in the 87 kg category at the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, followed by a Gold Medal at the 2016 Manila Asian Taekwondo Championships in the same weight class. Kyo-don’s career accelerated significantly in 2017, a landmark year where he secured a Bronze Medal in the 87 kg division at the Muju World Taekwondo Championships.
These achievements underscored his sustained excellence and readiness for the sport’s biggest stage. In Kyo-don reached a pinnacle of his career by securing a Bronze Medal in the Men’s +80kg category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
