Iryna Leshchanka

Iryna Leshchanka, born on July 30, 1991, in Syanno, Soviet Union, is a Belarusian biathlete who has competed at the highest levels of the sport. Her journey in biathlon began at the age of 11, a decision influenced by her family’s relocation near a biathlon training facility following a fire. This formative period laid the groundwork for a career characterized by consistent effort and incremental achievements.

Leshchanka made her international debut at the 2009 World Junior Championships, where she secured a fourth-place finish individually, indicating early potential. She was subsequently integrated into the senior national team in 2011. Her World Cup debut came during the 2014/15 season, marking her entry into professional biathlon circuits. Throughout her career, she has accumulated 210 World Cup starts, reflecting her enduring presence and commitment to the sport.

A significant milestone in Leshchanka’s career occurred at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, where she earned a gold medal as part of the 4×6 km relay team for Belarus. This achievement represented the culmination of years of training and competition. She continued to represent Belarus at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Over the course of her career, Leshchanka has also secured five World Cup podium finishes across various disciplines and accumulated multiple medals at the Junior World Championships, Youth World Championships, and European Championships, demonstrating consistent performance and development within biathlon.
