Ismael Hernández

Olympic medalist Ismael Hernández made history at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, securing a bronze medal in Modern Pentathlon – Mexico’s first Olympic medal in the sport and the fifth for the Mexican Olympic Team at Rio 2016. In recognition of this monumental achievement, Hernández was subsequently awarded the prestigious ‘Premio Nacional del Deporte’ by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education in September 2016. His inspiring performance at Rio saw him steadily climb from an initial 19th place after the first event, reaching 11th after swimming, and 6th following the show jumping event. Hernández concluded the competition with 626 points in the final combined running and shooting event, achieving an overall score of 1468 points, just four points shy of the silver medalist.
