Professional heavyweight freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili, representing his home country of Georgia is a World Champion and Olympic medallist.
Successfully winning his first senior medals when he was still in his teens, Petriashvili took home bronze medals in the 120kg category at both the 2013 European Championships in Tbilisi and the World Championships in Budapest. He has since moved up a weight category to compete in the 125kg event and went on to win a further two bronze medals during the 2015 World Championship in Las Vegas and the European Games in Baku, before winning his first Gold medal at the European Championships during 2016 in Riga. With his status as one of the wold’s top freestyle wrestlers continuing to build, Petriashvili has since won gold at the 2013 World U23 Championships in Bydgoszcz and during the same year also became a world champion for the first time when he took home the gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Paris. Now a three-time world champion following his gold medal wins during 2018 in Budapest and 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Petriashvili has also won a bronze and two silver medals at the European Championships, before more recently becoming a European wrestling champion at the competition during 2020 in Rome.
Following his top performances during 2016, Petriashvili went on to represent Georgia at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, where he was honoured to take home the bronze medal in the 125kg category.
