Jacob Bertrand was born on March 6, 2000, in Los Angeles, California. He began his acting career at a young age, initially viewing it as an opportunity to miss school. His journey started when his mother sent Christmas cards with his and his sister’s photos to agencies, leading to early roles in the industry. As he grew, mentorship from experienced actors helped him develop a genuine passion for his craft. Bertrand’s early work included a recurring role on the Nickelodeon sitcom ‘Marvin Marvin’ and voicing the main character Gil in seasons 2 and 3 of the animated series ‘Bubble Guppies’. He also appeared as a minor character on ‘iCarly’ and co-starred in the fantasy-comedy film ‘Jinxed’.
Bertrand gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Eli ‘Hawk’ Moskowitz in the acclaimed series ‘Cobra Kai’, which aired on YouTube Premium and later Netflix from 2018 to 2025. This role showcased his acting abilities and his dedication to martial arts, as he had studied taekwondo since childhood, and further trained with grandmaster Simon Rhee for the show. His career also includes notable film appearances in ‘Rise of the Guardians’ (2012) as the voice of Monty and a role as a High School Kid in ‘Ready Player One’ (2018).
