James Green is a 70-kilogram freestyle wrestler and folkstyle wrestler from the United States. He finished second in the World Championships and World Cup in 2017, as well as winning the Pan American Continental Championship and the US Open National Championship, among other international trophies. Green was a four-time NCAA Division I All–American, a Big Ten Conference champion, and a two-time finalist for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In 2013, Green began his freestyle career. Green won the US University National Championship in his first year of competition and finished seventh at the Summer Universiade. In 2014, he finished fifth in the US Open and won the US University National Championship for the second time. He finished second in the US World Team Trials and won silver at the University World Championships. Green finished third at the US Nationals in 2015, won the Spanish Grand Prix, and was named to the US World Team, bringing home a bronze medal from the World Championships.
Green competed in the 2017 World Cup of Wrestling. He won the Ukrainian Memorial International, the US Open National Championship, the Pan American Continental Championship, was named to his third consecutive US World Team. He finished first on the Grand Prix of Spain podium before competing in the World Championships, where he defeated three opponents to reach the gold–medal match, where he took silver. Green finished second in the Westling World Cup in 2018, assisting Team USA in winning the gold medal. Green was next slated to compete in the US Olympic Team Trials, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was postponed for the following year, along with the Summer Olympics. In 2021, he will compete for the United States in the World Championships in Oslo, Norway.
