Jenni Falconer was born on February 12, 1976, in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. She spent her early years in Bishopbriggs and Milngavie before her family relocated to Berkshire when she was seven. She attended the independent Abbey School in Reading and later studied Spanish and Italian with minors in Latin, Geography, and Management Studies at the University of Leeds in 1994. While at university, she began her television career after an audition following a radio interview. Her television debut occurred in 1994 as a contestant on the program ‘Blind Date’.
Falconer’s career trajectory includes significant roles in both television and radio. She co-presented BBC Scotland’s ‘The Big Country’ for three years, starting in March 1995. She also co-hosted ITV’s consumer show ‘We Can Work It Out’ alongside Judy Finnigan and Jane Harvey from 1998 to 1999. From 2000 to 2008, she was a main co-host of ‘Entertainment Today’ on GMTV. She became a regular presenter for ‘The National Lottery Draws’ on BBC One from 2006 to 2015. Falconer is also recognized for her work on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ as a travel reporter and guest presenter from 2011 to 2018. Over her career, she has held various hosting roles on shows like ‘Cirque de Celebrité’ (2007) and the quiz show ‘Wordplay’ on Channel 5 (2009).
In radio, Falconer joined Heart FM in March 2013, hosting the Sunday morning show. Her role expanded to early breakfast in June 2019. In December 2019, she left Heart FM and in January 2020 became the host for Smooth London breakfast and Saturday mid-mornings, with the latter broadcasting across the UK. She is slated to present the new national Smooth Breakfast show across England and Wales starting February 2025. Beyond broadcasting, Falconer launched her podcast ‘RunPod’ in March 2019 and is releasing her book, ‘Runner’s High’, in March 2024. She is also a dedicated supporter of charitable causes, including Breast Cancer 2000, The Children’s Trust, and Cancer Research UK, participating in multiple London Marathons to raise funds.
