Jennifer Grey

Jennifer Grey was born on March 26, 1960, in New York City, to acclaimed actor Joel Grey and singer Jo Wilder. Her early life in a performing arts family led her to study dance and acting at the Dalton School and later at Manhattan’s Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. She began her career with a commercial for Dr Pepper at age 19, followed by minor film roles. Her early work included appearances in the Cold War drama “Red Dawn” (1984) and Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Cotton Club” (1984), laying the groundwork for her breakthrough.

Grey achieved mainstream recognition with her role as the jealous sister, Jeanie Bueller, in John Hughes’ hit comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1986).
