Stunning American actress, activist and entrepreneur, Jessica Capshaw, is best known for her role as Jamie Stringer in The Practice and for playing Arizona Robbins on ABC’s hit medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy. She was introduced in that show’s fifth season as an attending surgeon and the new head of paediatric surgery. Originally contracted to appear in three episodes, Capshaw’s contract was extended for the remainder of the fifth season, with her becoming a series regular in the sixth season. She is the daughter of actress Kate Capshaw and stepdaughter to director Steven Spielberg.
Born and raised in Missouri and later New York, Capshaw was schooled in Los Angeles and then attended Rhode Island’s Brown University where she began acting. She attended classes at London’s famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts during the summer’s and later graduated with a BA in English. Her career started when she was 19 with a minor role in 1997’s The Locusts. She had a small part opposite Tom Cruise in Spielberg’s Minority Report and then had a major role in Edward Burns’s The Groomsmen. She has had a number of roles in film and TV since, including ER, Odd Man Out and The L Word.
