Jessie Armstead

Jessie Armstead was born on October 26, 1970, in Dallas, TX. He attended David W. Carter High School, where he achieved significant recognition as a two-time All-State linebacker and was named SuperPrep National Player of the Year. His high school career included leading Dallas Carter to a 5A state championship in 1988, contributing to an impressive 14-0-1 record. Armstead was also a three-time All-American, a rare accomplishment at the high school level at that time. He amassed 302 tackles, 18 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 8 fumble recoveries during his senior season, showcasing his defensive prowess from an early age.

Armstead played college football at the University of Miami, where he contributed to two national championship teams in 1989 and 1991. Despite tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during his sophomore season, which affected his NFL draft stock, he was selected by the New York Giants in the eighth round (207th overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft. He built a professional career spanning 11 seasons in the National Football League, primarily with the New York Giants (1993-2001), and later with the Washington Redskins (2002-2003). Over his NFL career, Armstead accumulated 971 combined tackles, 40 sacks, and 12 interceptions, alongside 15 forced fumbles. He earned five Pro Bowl selections from 1997 to 2001 and was a First-team All-Pro in 1997.

Following his playing career, Armstead remained involved with the NFL, serving as a special assistant/consultant for the New York Giants starting in 2008, where he focuses on special projects, defensive assignments, player development, and free agent recruiting. He also holds a Super Bowl XLII ring as a special assistant. Armstead was inducted into the New York Giants Ring of Honor, further solidifying his legacy within the organization. Beyond football, he has ventured into business, including automotive dealerships, and has made appearances on television.
