Jim O’Heir

Born on February 4, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, Jim O’Heir cultivated his acting career starting in the late 1980s. He began his theatrical journey in Chicago, actively participating in improvisational comedy at Chicago’s Second City and as a member of the sketch comedy troupe “White Noise.” With “White Noise,” he featured in plays such as “The Book of Blanche,” “Stumpy’s Gang,” and “Ad-Nauseam.” His stage work extended to a role as Norman Bulansky in Tom Griffin’s “The Boys Next Door” in 1989 and later as Dale Harding in the stage adaptation of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” in 2005, where his performance was noted by critics.

O’Heir’s television career spans several decades, with guest appearances in numerous well-known series. Early roles included parts in “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Friends,” and “Boston Legal.” A significant turning point in his career came in 2009 when he joined the cast of the NBC comedy series “Parks and Recreation” as Jerry Gergich. Although he initially auditioned for a different role, his portrayal of Jerry, a character consistently the subject of his co-workers’ good-natured teasing, became a fan favorite. His role became more prominent during the show’s second season, with episodes like “Park Safety” highlighting his comedic skills. In 2017, O’Heir’s diverse acting talent was recognized with a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for his work on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Beyond his regular television roles, O’Heir has appeared in films such as “Ed” (1996), “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” (2012), “Logan Lucky” (2017), and “Bad Times at the El Royale” (2018).
