Best known for playing Jerry Gergich in American comedy Parks and Recreation, James O’Heir is an actor and comedian from America. His numerous television credits include Star Trek: Voyager, Malcolm in the Middle, Boston Legal, Parenthood, Friends, ER and 3rd Rock from the Sun. He also starred as Harvey Krudup in television comedy Strip Mall. In 2017 his performance in Drama series The Bold and the Beautiful won O’Heir the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series daytime Emmy award.
O’Heir began his career at Chicago’s Second City where he performed improvisational comedy and was a member of the White Noise six-person sketch comedy troupe formed in 1987. In 1989 he appeared at the Edgewater Theatre Centre in Tom Griffin’s new play The Boys Next Door as the childlike Norman Bulansky. The following year he appeared in black comedy Stumpy’s Gang with White Noise and the play helped the troupe gain a cult following.
On film, O’Heir has appeared in fantasy television movie Harvey (1998), baseball comedy movie Ed (1996), family drama Welcome to Paradise (2007) and as Hathaway in Range 15 (2016). He has starred in numerous television shows over the last three decades, most notably in Strip Mall as Tammi Tyler’s husband Harvey Krudup, and as clumsy Jerry Gergich in Parks and Recreation. He has played memorable guest roles in Friends, Parenthood and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
