John Di Domenico was born on November 4, 1962, in Ambler, Pennsylvania. His early interest in performance led him to join a community theatre group during his teenage years, operating out of the Ambler Theatre and Opera House. He pursued higher education at East Stroudsburg University, majoring in Speech Communications, before transferring to Temple University where he earned a BA in the same field. Following his graduation, Di Domenico began his professional career as a copywriter for a Philadelphia advertising agency. His acting career commenced in the late 1980s in Philadelphia, performing and touring nationally with the SKITZOID Comedy Troupe, where he eventually became the head writer and artistic director.

His career advanced significantly in September 1989 when he secured the role of Joey Vitale in the off-Broadway improvisational show “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.” During his time in New York, he further honed his craft as a member of Some Assembly Required, an improvisation company. Di Domenico’s versatility as an actor led to roles in television, including the CBS series “True Detective,” “Labor Day” for PBS, and the HBO series “The Sopranos,” where he played Howie Reinstein. His extensive range in impersonation includes notable figures such as Dr. Phil, Guy Fieri, Jay Leno, and Mike Myers.

A pivotal development in Di Domenico’s career was his Donald Trump impression, which he began in 2004 for a voice-over project related to “The Apprentice.” His portrayal gained significant prominence with Trump’s 2015 presidential campaign, leading to numerous appearances as Donald Trump on various platforms. These include “Conan,” Fox News Redeye, Chelsea Handler, Fox & Friends, and Slate’s Trumpcast podcast. His impactful impersonation led to him winning ABC’s The View’s “Best Donald Trump” competition and the Laugh Factory’s International Trump Impersonation contest. In 2021, he also began starring in the YouTube web series “Orange Acres,” portraying Donald Trump alongside Mikalah Gordon as Melania Trump, navigating post-presidency life.
