The brilliant John Strong is a sports broadcaster and journalist, who is the lead commentator for MLS and the United States men’s national team coverage on Fox. He has also worked for NBC, and ESPN, and is the former radio host of 750-AM “The Game”. He was named Oregon Sportscaster of the Year in 2013 by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
Born and raised in Oregon, Strong began his broadcasting career while at High School, where he created audio broadcasts of school football and basketball games. He attended the University of Oregon to study journalism, and also worked on the Campus’s radio station. After graduating he started working at Portland KXL radio, and then on 750 AM “The Game”, going on to produce and host a number of radio shows. In 2010 he became the commentator for the Portland Timbers, and the following year he was working fo FSN Northwest. He became a regular commentator on Europa League games for Fox Soccer, and after the 2012-13 season he moved to NBC Sports to cover MLS and the English Premier League. In 2014 he moved full-time to Fox Sports to head the channel’s MLS and Women’s World Cup coverage, and later the United States men’s national team games.
