John Wallace

John Wallace has transitioned from a distinguished NBA career to a role as a basketball broadcaster and community leader. After being named to the McDonald’s All-American Team in 1992, John Wallace went on to a distinguished collegiate career at Syracuse University. As a freshman in the 1992-93 season, he started all 29 games, averaging 11.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. During this impactful season, he averaged 22.2 points and 8.7 rebounds, solidifying his legacy as an all-time Syracuse great.

Wallace’s professional journey commenced when he was selected as the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 1996 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. His NBA career spanned seven seasons, during which he played for the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, and Miami Heat. He notably had his most productive NBA season with the Toronto Raptors in 1997-98, playing all 82 games and starting 36, averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Following his NBA tenure, Wallace extended his playing career internationally with stints in Greece for Panionios and in Italy for Snaidero Udine, before retiring from professional basketball in 2005.

In 2020, Wallace launched his own live stream and podcast, ‘Power Forward w/ John Wallace,’ which features in-depth discussions with prominent guests from across the sports and industry landscape. The same year, his profound impact on Syracuse basketball was further recognized when his Number 44 jersey was officially retired by the Syracuse Orange. Wallace continues to be a prominent voice in basketball commentary and community engagement, reinforcing his commitment to the sport and various philanthropic endeavors.
