British comedian and impressionist John Culshaw is responsible for bringing to life an array of real life characters on the small screen. Known for his acerbic portrayals of politicians and celebrities Culshaw has appeared on the BBC radio and TV show Dead Ringers since 2000 and voiced a number of characters on top ITV shows Spitting Image, Alter Ego, The Impressions Show and Newzoids.
His media career began in hospital radio, before moving across to local radio in Preston where he became known as a fun and popular DJ. He spent time working with Red Rose Radio, Viking FM, Blackpool Radio Wave and Pennine Radio prior to national radio where he became known for his vocal pranks on BBC Radio One alongside DJ Chris Moyles. Now a regular on TV and radio Culshaw has also appeared on Horrible Histories, Little Britain and Headcases and as a keen amateur astronomist has also hosted The Sky At Night undercover as a young Patrick Moore.
His most famous impressions include Barack Obama, Frank Bruno, John Major, Russell Crowe, Boris Johnson and Donald Trump, and in 1998 his impression of William Hague was good enough to fool No.10 Downing Street into putting his call through to Prime Minister Tony Blair. With a repertoire of over 350 realistic voices Culshaw’s talent for mimicry and impressions is unrivalled in the United Kingdom.
