Joseph Gatt was born in Notting Hill, London, on December 3, 1971, to Maltese immigrant parents. He began his professional training at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and later honed his craft at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, where he earned a degree in acting and music theater. At the age of 14, Gatt was diagnosed with alopecia universalis, a condition that resulted in complete hair loss. His early career included roles in London’s West End theater productions such as “Miss Saigon” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” After relocating to the United States, he quickly secured a lead role in the thriller film “Pulse,” starring alongside Kristen Bell.

A significant portion of Gatt’s career involves motion capture and voice acting in the video game industry. He is recognized for performing the motion capture and lending his likeness to ‘Kratos’ in the acclaimed “God Of War” franchise. He also provided the voice for ‘Lord Scourge’ in the popular “Star Wars: The Old Republic.” His film credits include playing the Frost Giant villain ‘Grundroth’ in Marvel’s 2011 film “THOR” and portraying humanoid Starfleet ‘Science Officer 0718′ in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness” in 2013. Gatt appeared as Neils Skellig in the 2019 film “Dumbo.”

On television, Gatt has made guest appearances on NBC’s “Chuck,” Fox’s “Breaking In,” and Adult Swim’s “Eagleheart.” He also had a recurring role as ‘The Albino’ in Cinemax’s series “Banshee.” Other notable television roles include ‘Thenn Warg’ in “Game of Thrones” (2014), ‘The Man’ in “Z Nation” (2016), and ‘Victor Zelko’ in “NCIS: New Orleans” (2019). Most recently, Gatt appeared as an Intergang Squad Leader in the 2022 film “Black Adam.” Gatt resides in Los Angeles, continuing his work in the entertainment industry.
