Joseph Parker is a champion heavyweight boxer from New Zealand, with Samoan heritage. Starting young, Parker became recognised for his unparalleled talents quickly. Parker competed at the Commonwealth Games at the age of only 16 and had an outstanding amateur career, winning silver at the 2010 Singapore Youth Summer Olympics and gold at the 2011 China Open, 2011 Darwin Arafura Games and the 2012 Belgrade Tournament.
Parker went on to turn professional in 2012, quickly becoming one of the sport’s most promising stars. Soon after, he won the NZNBF Heavyweight title in 2013, going on to win the WBO Oriental Heavyweight title only a year after. He held this title for several years, and reclaimed it recently in 2021. Continuing as one of boxing’s most talented athletes, 2015 saw him take the WBO Oceania Heavyweight title and the WBC-EPBC Heavyweight title. In 2016, Parker then historically won the WBO Heavyweight title, which he kept until 2018. Parker is considered one of the world’s best heavyweight boxers, having been ranked eighth on the Ring Magazine’s best active heavyweights list in 2020. Of his 30 fights, he has won 28, and isn’t stopping any time soon.
