The unforgettable British songwriter, singer and actress Joss Stone is one of the country’s most successful and loved soul and R&B artists. With multi-platinum albums, 2 BRIT awards and a Grammy, Stone has done it all. She came to prominence with her 2003 album The Soul Sessions, with hit tracks such as “Super Duper Love” which has since accumulated 30 million streams.
Moving forward, she then her released one of her most successful albums to date, Mind Body & Soul, in 2004. The album topped the UK Albums Charts, reached No.11 in the Billboard 200 and was nominated for the 2005 Grammy Awards. Its track “You Had Me” and “Don’t Cha Wanna Ride” reached the top 10 and top 20 respectively, with the latter since reaching over 35 million streams. In 2005, she became the youngest ever solo winner at the BRIT Awards at the age of only 17, where she won the British Female Solo Artist and British Urban Act awards. In 2007 she released her 3rd album, Introducing Joss Stone, which debuted at No.2 on the Billboard 200, received gold record status by the RIAA and included the single “Tell Me ‘bout it’ which peaked at No.28 on the UK Singles Charts.
In the years following, Stone continued releasing celebrated albums and undertaking world tours, making her one of Britain’s most successful and recognised soul artists. Her interpretations of classic songs by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding also put her the map as one of soul’s most talented musicians of all time. She has also spread her artistic talents to the acting world, having appeared in the 2005 film Eragon as well as the show The Tudors in 2009, making her not only a gifted musician, but an all-round brilliant artist.
