Julia Kern achieved her first World Cup podium on December 21, 2019, securing third place in a sprint freestyle event in Planica, Slovenia. This milestone followed her World Cup debut during the 201617 season. Kern also demonstrated her competitive prowess at the 2017 Junior World Championships in Soldier Hollow, where she earned a bronze medal as part of the American 4 x 3.33 km relay team and achieved a 9th place finish in the sprint classic. She participated in three Junior World Championships between 2015 and 2017, laying a strong foundation for her professional career.
