Katie Featherston

Katie Featherston was born on October 20, 1982, in Arlington, Texas. She developed an interest in drama during her time at Bowie High School, where she participated in various theatrical activities. Featherston pursued higher education at Southern Methodist University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2005. Following her graduation, she relocated to Los Angeles to begin her acting career.

Featherston gained widespread recognition for her lead role as Katie in the 2007 independent film “Paranormal Activity.” The film, shot on a budget of approximately $15,000, became a significant box office success, grossing over $100 million in the US. Her performance in “Paranormal Activity” earned her the Best Actress award at the 2009 Screamfest Film Festival. She reprised her role in several sequels within the “Paranormal Activity” franchise, including “Paranormal Activity 2” (2010), “Paranormal Activity 3” (2011), “Paranormal Activity 4” (2012), and a cameo in “Paranimal Activity: The Marked Ones” (2014) cementing her association with the horror series.

Beyond the “Paranormal Activity” series, Featherston has broadened her professional scope to include directing and producing. She was brought onto Steven Spielberg’s produced ABC television series, “The River” (2012), appearing in multiple episodes as Rosetta ‘Rabbit’ Fischer. In 2017, she took on main roles and served as both director and producer for the short-form series “Solace for the Unloved.” She also directed and produced the short film “Becoming” (2016) and “Katie Featherston Audition Tape” (2013). Her acting credits further include an appearance in the HBO series “Big Little Lies” in 2019, where she played Lilah LaPlant for one episode, and “Psychic Experiment” (2010) as Elspeth Thompson.
