Kevin Allen

Kevin Allen is a widely recognised Welsh film director, actor, screenwriter and film producer. Allen’s profile first rose to prominence when he appeared in the BBC’s On the March with Bobby’s Army. Allen is also known for writing and directing the feature film, Twin Town. Allen has established his name as a director and co-writer, film credits including Under Milk Wood, The Big Tease, Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London and the first season of Benidorm, amongst many other popular works.

Allen featured in many television shows in the early 90’s, notably The Trials of Oz, Look at it This Way, The Comic Strip, The Bill, Murder Most Horrid, Bottom, French and Saunders and Absolutely Fabulous. A talented stage actor, Allen has appeared in Ben Elton’s Silly Cow and in Howard Benton’s Berlin Bertie. In 1988, he was awarded the Fringe First Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Festival for his celebrated role in A Prayer for Wings, a Sean Mathias play. He has written and directed a number of works for the BBC, including many documentaries such as Bombay Brown Wash and Rotten to the Core, to name a few.

Allen’s feature film, Twin Town, was BAFTA-nominated and became a BAFTA Cymru winner. The film was also nominated for a Golden Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2013, Allen director Y-Syrcas which was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru Award and won the audience and jury award at the European Minority Language Film Festival the following year.
